Watchman with External Probe (1meter or 3meter)
Suitable for kitchens, pools, refrigerators, storage, underground, walking coolers, freezers, tech rooms etc. Please note that it does NOT provide humidity readings (only temperature readings).
Probe is 4mm in thickness. We also offer option of ribbon cable (2mm thick) - that works better when running cable over refrigerator/freezer door seals. There is no price difference, however ribbon cable only comes in 3meter length.
Probe is water resistant and can be used in hot tubs and pools. To extend the longevity of the probe (when used in water, such as pool), we recommend applying a thin layer of silicon (at the tail end where rubber meets the metal end). This will avoid any water seep into probe and extend it's life for years. The base unit needs to be at a dry place.
Offers a measurement range from -40F to 170F. Please ensure that base unit is protected from direct sunlight and at temperature from 0F to 150F.
Works with your existing 2.4G WiFi router. There is gateway option ($20) in case you are looking for an easy plug-and-play setup or prefer not to share your WiFi credentials with watchman. It is available on Buy Watchman page.
Looking for buffered probes for monitoring vaccine storage (per CDC recommendations)
Watchman with external probe is also offered with multi-probe option. In addition to single probe (as described above), you can order with 2-probe or 3-probe setting at 1meter or 3meter length. Please note that same length selection will be applied to all probes of a given unit (i.e. unit will not have probes with different lengths).
Same set of features applies to 2-probe and 3-probe units:

Only 2mm thick (whereas black round cable is 4mm thick). Comes in 3meter length. Suitable to run over refrigerator/freezers door seals
2-Probes using ribbon cables (3meters each)
3-Probes using ribbon cables (3meters each)
If you plan to use external probe Watchman to monitor temperature of refrigerators / freezers, you may observe significant variation in temperatures reads (up to +/-15F) with defrost cycle.
We offer an option where you can order your external probe to be fitted in 15ml glass vial filled with food-grade glycol. Glycol provides a buffer and probe reads an accurate temperature of the contents (in cold storage). With out such buffer, probe shows a higher variation (than the actual) in temperature of the contents, as refrigerator / freezer cycles through the defrost.
CDC recommends using buffered probes as temperature monitoring for medicine and vaccine storage.
On Buy Watchman page, you have an option to purchase this add-on for $8 per probe.
This Watchman type is programmed to work with 10k NTC Thermistor temperature probes commonly used for pools and spas. The resistance of the thermistor probe changes with temperature. The software on the Watchman measures the changes in the resistance (of thermistor probe) and calculates the temperature. The product is rated to function correctly between 50F to 120F. If exposed to temperatures outside the qualified range (i.e. 50F to 120F), the temperature readings may be off by +/-5F.
We have tested the Watchman with the following thermistor probes.
Though all 10k thermistor probes are designed to function the same way, feel free to contact us (at tech@pp-code.com) for questions related to specific make/model of your 10k thermistor probe.
Same features as "Watchman with external probe" (no humidity reading)
Watchman does NOT come with a thermistor probe. You will connect probe of your choice to Watchman using the 2-wire connector on the side of the enclosure. There is no requirement to match polarity or color as you connect. Simply connect two wires (of the probe) to Watchman's 2-wire connector in any order. Please ensure that Watchman is not plugged-in while you are making the connections.
Suitable for BBQ, ovens etc. This watchman uses MAX6675 module that that performs cold-junction compensation and digitizes K-Thermocouple outputs. It can read temperature range from 32F to 1875F (accuracy may vary by 5% for temperature above 1300F). Please ensure that base unit is protected from direct sunlight and at temperature from 0F to 150F. It comes with a 14-in long Thermocouple that you can easily replace at you own per your needs.
Same feature set as "Watchman with external Probe" (no humidity readings)
