Why Use LoRa (Long Range)
LoRa Watchman, as the name says, can be deployed to cover a longer range (up to 1km / 0.6mile /3200ft radius) compared to WiFi-based Watchman (typically deployed with in 75ft of WiFi access point). The solution is based on LoRa technology and requires a LoRa gateway to communicate with LoRa Watchman devices deployed on your site.
LoRa gateway connects (using Ethernet or WiFi) to your existing router. A single (LoRa) gateway can support as many as 25 LoRa Watchman devices, deployed up to 0.6mile (1km/ 3200ft) radius (from the gateway) using the external antenna on Watchman device (internal antenna provides up to 600ft).
LoRa Watchman is good fit (operationally as well as financially) for monitoring multi-tenant buildings, farming and agricultural sites as well as large storage, warehouses and construction sites (please see below for more details). A comparable WiFi based solution (especially if to be newly installed to enable monitoring) will have a higher total cost and may require professional installation.
Our LoRa Solution Pricing
We provide a turn-key solution, that is comprised of LoRa Watchman (sensor devices) and LoRa gateway (a single gateway can cover as many as 25 LoRa Watchman devices).
There are software applications that we run and manage in the backend for you. All hardware components arrive pre-configured and offer a plug-and-play setup. You will have access to logs (via pp-Code Cloud portal) as well as the ability to configure and receive alerts. There is a monthly $4.99 service subscription, charged per LoRa gateway. Note that a single LoRa gateway can cover as many as 25 LoRa Watchman (sensor device).
In order to get started, you will purchase LoRa Gateway and LoRa Watchman (sensor devices).
For LoRa gateway, we offer the following options:
- You can lease one for $9.99 per month OR
- You can buy one for $165
A single LoRa gateway can cover as many as 25 LoRa Watchman within 0.6miles/1km of radius (assuming external antenna on LoRa Watchman). You may choose to deploy more than one LoRa Gateway for redundancy and/or for larger coverage reasons.
You can also bring your own LoRa gateway. We will collect it's ID from you. At the same time, we will provide our LoRa Network server details to you to configure on your gateway. Please contact us at tech@pp-code.com for more details.
For LoRa Watchman (sensor devices) and they are priced starting at $45 based on the sensor types. Each LoRa Watchman has a unique ID that you can name, per your own naming requirements, at the time of activation on the portal. We also offer a battery-backup option for LoRa Watchman devices. The battery backup can last up to 3 days.

Monitoring Environment in Multi-Tenant Building
The use of LoRa technology provides an operationally simpler and scalable solution - compared to traditional WiFi-based solutions. Our single LoRa gateway can provide connectivity up to 25 LoRa Watchman (sensors devices) that report on environmental data such as: temperature, humidity, and pressure values.
The gateway will be installed in a common/admin/tech room where it can be connected to a router for internet access. Watchman sensors devices can be installed in places where needed such as corridors, condos, laundry rooms, etc. Our Watchman sensors do not need to connect with building/tenant WiFi. They automatically connect with our LoRa gateway - which can serve 1 or multiple buildings (up to 25 watchman units up to a 0.6mile radius).
If you are managing a multi-tenant building, you will appreciate the simplicity of installing these sensor with out having to do any wifi setup. You place sensor units where they need to be corridors, store, hallways, in the condominiums etc. As long as they are with in the range (1km) of the gateway, they will automatically join and begin data logging (no setup at all).
- You may begin with 1 gateway and 1 sensor unit (costs less than $200, see pricing)
- Incremental sensor units, at minimal cost (at $29 each). No need to buy gateway (a single gateway can serve up to 25 sensor units)
Multi-tenant building is sweet spot for LoRa deployment. You will save both CAPEX and OPEX. We encourage to contact us if you want to further discuss your use case.
Smart Farming and Agriculture Operation
With LoRa Watchman technology, farmers have easy access to a host of envioremental information for improving their businesses, The long range and battery backup (can be augmented using solar panels) are the distinct advantages of LoRa Watchman solution, resulting in lower maintenance and operating costs along with greater operational visibility, which in turn empower farmers to scale their businesses.
WiFi-based solution would not work for such use case - primarily due to the absence of cable and power infrastructure in the open filed. LoRa technology is more efficient and less expensive and we offer a turn-key solution that is competitive and affordable. Owners / field managers can deploy and operate at ease with out having to hire specialized installation service.
Storage, Warehouse, Construction Open sites
Operating open and large scale storage, warehouse and construction sites requires monitoring and recording of the envioremental stats such as temperature, humidity and pressure. Given the larger size of the space (to monitor) and low amount of data bandwidth, LoRa technology is more efficient and less expensive solution compared to deploying WiFi based solutions.
With LoRa Watchman, site managers can deploy and operate at ease with out having to hire specialized installation service (WiFi based solutions, for such large sites, are complex and will require professional design and installation).
Site managers will have the ability to not only monitor and record the data, but also receive alerts in case of anormal envioremental conditions of a given space / area.
Lease Terms of LoRa Gateway
As you choose to lease LoRa Gateway from us, the monthly payment will be at $14.98 that includes service subscription ($4.99 per month) and gateway lease ($9.99 per month). Terms are:
- If you want to terminate the service:
You will notify Watchman Online LLC (at tech@pp-code.com). You will be provided a return shipping label and gateway must be returned within 30 days thereafter. - On subscription payment failure:
Watchman Online LLC will notify you. You are expected to resume the payments within 7-days of the notification. If you prefer terminating the service, you will request it within 7-days of the notification. As you make the request, you will be provided a return shipping label and gateway must be returned within 30 days thereafter. - Failure to the above will incur charge of $165 on your credit card.
Note: normal wear and tear is expected. If there is excessive damage or missing parts, Watchman Online LLC will notify you for any assessed charges (not to exceed $165). You will have 7-days to respond otherwise the assessed charges will be charged to your credit card.
